DEVELOPMENT BANDThe Development Band is a great way for people who already play brass or percussion instruments to play together with other learners and is open to all ages. We are always keen to welcome new players, whether you’re a beginner or perhaps someone who is a little ‘rusty’ and keen to return to playing after a long break.
The Development Band meets during school term times at the Toddington Social Club on Tuesday evenings, before the main Toddington Town Band rehearsal, and rehearse a variety of enjoyable music, carefully selected to develop and motivate players. In time, as you become a more accomplished player, you’ll also be encouraged to join the main Toddington Town Band. The Development Band usually performs about three times each year, featuring in some of Toddington Town Band’s own concerts, and often performing a joint ‘massed band’ item with them. There is no charge for being a member of the Development Band and instruments and uniform are provided. You will also be invited to join in with the band’s regular social events. |
WANT TO LEARN TO PLAY?If you have never played a brass instrument before, but would you like to learn, we can provide FREE lessons to get you going.
Young or old, it’s never too late to take up music and, even if you have never picked up an instrument before, we can help you learn to read music and play a brass instrument. Firstly we’ll help you to find the size of instrument that suits you best, then our experienced players, who are all DBS (previously CRB) checked, will guide you at your own pace. Lessons are usually in 30 minute sessions and take place during school term times at the Toddington Social Club on Tuesday evenings, before the main Toddington Town Band rehearsal, which you’re welcome to stay and listen to. There is no charge for lessons and we can loan you an instrument to get you started. Then, as you become a more proficient player, you’ll be encouraged to become a member of the Toddington Town Development Band. |
